Côtes du Rhône

A selection of some remarkable cuvées we selected in Vaucluse and Gard, the two major Côtes du Rhône- producing districts, has enabled us to create our various quality blends.

They find their balance in the traditional varietals of this region; its peppery aromas in the Rhône "terroir" of sand, gravel and small rocks; their maturity and strength in the hot summer sun of the Rhône Valley.

These wines symbolise the know-how of the region's growers combined with a modern approach to wine-making and selection by David et Foillard. Matured in our cellars, this Côtes du Rhône will satisfy the most demanding palates by its warm and velvety finish.

Ageing Potential : This wine will improve over the next 2 years, and is already pleasant and round.

Tasting notes : a deep 'robe' and a soft, peppery nose, aromas of violet and fresh raspberries, a soft velvety finish.

Wine & Food : Serve between 15°C and 17°C, ideally with full-flavoured red meats and cheese.

Côtes du Rhône Blanc

Varietals : Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne, Bourboulenc.

The Wine: Cultivated from Montélimar to Avignon, the traditional white varietals of the Rhône Valley benefit here from terroirs of sands, limestones and sandstones, under the warm 'Midi' sun. Maturity is essential to the equilibrium between alcohol, freshness and acidity. Selection therefore has to be strict.

Ageing Potential : This wine should be drunk young, although it will develop some interesting complexity, aromas of honey…, over the next two years.

Tasting notes : A bouquet of white flowers and citrus fruits, followed by a well-balanced and round body, in a beautiful, brilliant light yellow robe.

Wine & Food : Perfect with entrées, fish and seafood. Serve cool to chilled (10°C to 12°C).

Côtes du Rhône Nord (Northern Crus)

Saint Joseph:

This 100% Syrah wine comes from the Ardèche district, in the northernmost part of the Côtes du Rhône area. A total of approximately  800 hectares ( 2.000 acres) of Saint Joseph are cultivated, on the granitic hills on the right bank of the Rhône.

A good exposure of the vineyard is essential, as is the dedication of the grower to low yields and right maturity at the time of harvest. Vinification is generally traditional and gives wines that can be drunk after one or two years but also possess a good ageing potential.

Ageing Potential : These wines improve over the next 5 years, although they are rapidly pleasant and round. Tanins will soften a little more over the years and some complex aromas will appear, of leather, tobacco and liquorice.

Tasting notes : Expressive nose of small red berries, pepper and blackberries... The Syrah varietal brings body, tanin and aromatic intensity. A lot of elegance and charm.

Wine & Food : Serve between 16°C and 18°C, ideally with grilled poultry, red meats and cheese.

Côtes du Rhône Villages

The Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation extends over 1.800 hectares (4.500 acres) in the Gard, Vaucluse and Drôme districts. The yield allowed is more restricted there than in the Côtes du Rhône area, thereby leading to concentrated and structured wines.

Grown on various soils –sands,  small rocks and gravel- these wines will satisfy the most demanding palates by a warm and smooth finish. The expression of the terroir rather than 'technique' is enhanced by a traditional vinification process.

Ageing Potential : This wine will improve over the next 3 years, although it is already very pleasant and round.

Tasting notes : a deep 'robe' and aromas of ripe fruits, a soft and long-lasting velvety finish.

Wine & Food : Serve between 16°C and 18°C, ideally with full-flavoured red meats and game.

Crozes-Hermitage

Varietal : 100% Syrah

The Region: This 100% Syrah wine comes from the region of Tain-l'Hermitage, in the northernmost part of the Côtes du Rhône area. Approximately 1,100 hectares of Crozes-Hermitage are cultivated, on a rich soil of alluvial sands and clay-limestone with round stones from the ancient Rhône river bed. Vinification is traditional and gives wines that can be drunk rapidly but also possess a good ageing potential.

Ageing Potential : This wine will improve over the next 5 to 7 years, although it is already very pleasant and round. Tanins will soften a little more over the years and some complex aromas will appear, of leather, tobacco and liquorice.

Tasting notes : Expressive nose of small red berries, blackberries... The Syrah varietal brings body, tanin and aromatic intensity.

Wine & Food : Serve between 16°C and 18°C, ideally with charcuterie, full-flavoured red meats and cheese.
