Beaujolais Nouveau

The Beaujolais  vinification  is called 'Carbonic Maceration':  the whole grapes ferment in the vat, no de-stalking is done.  This process brings out the best of      the Gamay grape: youth, freshness and charm.

Beaujolais Nouveau was a  pionneer a few years back, the first Appellation  d'Origine of the new vintage to be released, on each 3rd Thursday of November. Today, despite copycats in France and elsewhere, the Beaujolais Nouveau release remains a worldwide event for wine-amateurs and about 30% of the regional production    is sold under this appellation.

Tasting Notes: With its beautiful ruby-red to violet robe and its very expressive, aromatic nose of fresh berries, this is         a thirst-quenching wine, light and soft, simple but elegant.

In some years, exotic aromas can be found but the     Gamay fruit and flesh generally prevail.

Various Châteaux and estates are distributed by   DFJ including the following ones :
Château Gaillard:

Château de la Fléchère

Beaujolais Villages

Approximately 40 Villages of the Beaujolais region make   up the Beaujolais-Villages appellation. A great diversity       of soil can be found, from clay to granites, sands and limestone. A great diversity of exposure to sun also, ranging from South to East-North-East, giving very different wines,   in both style and structure.

David & Foillard  selects complementary  cuvées in various parts of the appellation, relying mostly on the same growers every year, although some vintages require to   adjust for more fruit or more character.  We exclusively distribute 85 châteaux and estates from the appellation Beaujolais Villages.

Tasting Notes: The personality of Beaujolais Villages is quite versatile but we try to put the emphasis on the     balance between a very aromatic, expressive nose, the aromas of red berries (strawberries, blackcurrant) and a   soft structure, pleasant and round.
